How to Measure Linked Blinds

HOW TO: HOW TO MEASURE LINKED BLINDS

Before You Start

You will need the following:

Tape Measure

Pencil

Step Ladder

STEP 1

Your first step is deciding if you would like your blinds to sit on the outside (face fit) of your window frames or sit inside (recess fit) the window frames.

ii. Things to consider

When deciding whether to have inside or outside Mounted blinds, consider things that may protrude from the window, such as handles and winders, that will obstruct the operation of the blind.

You need 50mm of depth from the glass to the outer edge of the frame to fit a single roller blind. If you do not have this space you will need to choose a face fit blind.

You need 85mm of depth from the glass to the outer edge of the frame to fit double linked roller blinds.

If you do not have this space you will need to face fit the roller blinds.

STEP 2

i. Measure the width and drop of the window opening

First measure the overall Inside width of the window opening.

Measuring the width
Measure the exact inside width of the window frame just along the top as above.

Measuring the drop
Measure the height of the window from the inside top of the window frame to where you’d like the blind to finish.

To Measure the Links

Starting from the left, measure from the inside of the frame to where you would like the first blind to end.

Then measure from that point to where the second blind will end.

Depending on the layout you choose, you will need up to four blind measurements. These combined should equal the total width you measured originally.

Important thing to remember is that there will be a fabric gap of approximately 19mm between each of the blinds, try and line this up with a mullion or natural divider on the window.

i. Measuring the Width for Outside Mount Linked Blinds

First measure the overall Inside width of the window opening.

Measuring the width
Measure the exact outside width of the window frame just along the top as above.

Measuring the drop
Measure the height of the window from the top of the window frame to where you’d like the blind to finish.

To measure the links

Starting from the left, measure from the outside of the window frame to where you would like the first blind to end.

Then measure from that point to where the second blind will end.

Depending on the layout you choose, you will need up to four blind measurements. These combined should equal the overall width.

Important thing to remember is that there will be a fabric gap of approximately 19mm between each of the blinds, try and line this up with a mullion or natural divider on the window.

STEP 3

Select the layout you would like as per the below chart.

At most you can have 2 sides of control, 1 on the left and one on the right. Any additional blinds will be dependent on either the left or right control.
