How To Measure for Blinds

HOW TO MEASURE SINGLE AND DOUBLE ROLLER BLINDS

Before You Start

You will need the following:

Tape Measure

Pencil

Step Ladder

STEP 1

i. Choose where your blinds will be fitted

Roller blinds can be fitted in two ways, on the outside (face fit) of your window frames or inside (reveal fit) the window frames. Choose what works best for your window.

Face Fit / Outside Mount

Reveal Fit / Inside Mount

ii. Things to consider

When deciding whether to have inside or outside Mounted blinds, check if there are any obstructions such as window winders and handles that will affect the operation of the blind.

STEP 2

Here are a few simple steps for measuring outside mounted blinds.

i. For Outside Mount / Face Fit Blinds

Measuring the width
Along the top of the window frame, take the exact measurement of width, edge to edge, of the exterior of the frame (as pictured)

Measuring the drop
Measure the height of the window from the top of the window frame to where you’d like the blind to finish.

ii. For Inside Mount / Reveal Fit Blinds

The first step is to ensure there is enough room the roll to sit nicely on the inside of your frame.

You need 50mm of depth from the glass to the outer edge of the frame to fit a single roller blind. If you do not have this space you will need to choose a face fit blind.

You need 85mm of depth from the glass to the outer edge of the frame to fit double roller blinds.

If you do not have this space you will need to choose to face fit the roller blinds.

Measuring the width
Measure the exact inside width of the window frame just along the top as above.

Measuring the drop
Measure the height of the window from the inside top of the window frame to where you’d like the blind to finish.
